Visit Dunhuang UGGp

From 5 to 8 March 2024, a delegation from the geopark went to Dunhuang UNESCO Global Geopark for investigation and exchange. The geopark visited Mogao Caves, Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring, Yardang and Yumen Pass Yangguan and carried out exchanges on various aspects of the geopark's attraction creation, community construction, protection of geosite, science popularisation display, etc., with a focus on learning and discussing the experience of the revalidation of Dunhuang UNESCO Global Geopark in 2023.
At the symposium, the two sides carried out exchanges and discussions on the current situation, advantages and difficulties of the geopark as well as the next role to play. Dunhuang UNESCO Global Geopark management committee deputy director Wei Dong said, Xinjiang Keketuohai beautiful natural scenery, rich mineral resources, geosite numerous, the two sides of the geopark cooperation space is broad, I hope the two sides to establish a regular communication and coordination mechanism, give full play to their respective strengths, and actively seek more points of convergence, and continue to explore the advantages of complementary, common development of the way path.
Liang Xiujiang, deputy director of Keketuohai Management Committee, introduced the development status of Keketuohai UNESCO Global Geopark, and said that Dunhuang Global Geopark is the closest to Keketuohai, and that this discussion and exchange is crucial for the revalidation of this year's Keketuohai, and that we have a more in-depth and straightforward understanding of the key points of the revalidation of the UNESCO Global Geopark through on-site observation, listening to the explanations, and discussion and exchange of views, providing a reliable reference for the work of welcoming the inspection. Through the field observation, listening to the explanation and discussion and exchange of ideas, we gained a deeper and more straightforward understanding of the key points and difficulties in the revalidation of the UNESCO Global Geopark, which provided us with reliable references and effective guidance for the next step of the work.
At the end of the discussion, both geoparks expressed their intention to sign a friendly UNESCO Global Geopark (sister geopark) agreement, and will maintain long-term exchanges and promote substantive park cooperation.
