Such many tribes and nations lived successively in Fuyun in the history of Fuyun County as Dingning, Saike, Xiongnu, Xianbei, Rouran, Turk, Mongolia and contemporary Kazakh.Fuyun County was governed by Xiongnu in the Han dynasty and by west Turk in the Sui and Tang dynasties. It was a fief of various princes from Mongolia in the Yuan dynasty, and a pasturing land of the Oirad nation in the Ming dynasty.
