In ancient times, the Kazakhs lived a nomadic life, and they understood the habits of horses and developed excellent horsemanship from an early age, making horse racing a traditional sports and recreational activity very popular with the Kazakhs. Most horse races are held on festivals and large-scale events, and young people between the ages of 12 and 13 are usually selected to participate, with the horses undergoing special training two or three months beforehand.
