Kazakh dress has strong national characteristics; men wear "tumak" and "polk" in winter and leather coats and trousers; in summer, they wear cotton or woollen trousers with embroidered patterns on the corners. Women wear red, gaudy dresses, covered with lace shoulders, decorated with coloured buttons, silver ornaments and other accessories on their chests, and headdresses, mainly hats and turbans.
