Fuyun County grows over 25,000 acres of blackcurrants, making it the largest blackcurrant growing county in Xinjiang. Most of the blackcurrants are sold to the mainland to be made into enzymes after the harvest, while some are kept locally to be made into jams, juices and other products. Blackcurrant is rich in vitamin C, as well as phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, calcium, anthocyanins, phenolic substances, with very good health effects. The cultivation of blackcurrants not only drives the development of agriculture and animal husbandry in the geopark, but also increases the income for local villagers.
